In 1935, General Bandages pioneered the manufacture of the self-gripping tape known as Guard-Tex. At the time, it was primarily marketed to factory workers in the United States who needed an effective solution for protecting their fingers from sharp cuts in way that didn't reduce dexterity. By the 1950's, the Company created an alternative brand called Gauztex that focused on preventing blisters for "sportsmen" at the time, where it was adapted for such uses as golf, tennis, and other sports that required blister protection. Our objectives, in those days, as today, was to achieve consistent growth and become an innovative leader in blister and cut protection and care.
Today, our manufacturing and headquarters facility is located in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, where we serve end-users and distributors spanning the globe in the industrial, health, and athletic markets.
