Guard-Tex is used to secure gauze dressings, including in medical and podiatry settings. The wrap goes around the dressing and overlaps itself, so retention does not depend on sticking the tape to skin.

Guard-Tex’s cohesive coating bonds overlapping layers to each other. It is a non-stretch wrap.
The care instructions
Follow the package and clinician’s instructions for application, fit and dressing changes. Securing a dressing is a different task from providing compression.

Looking for Gauztex?
Gauztex has been supplied through medical and podiatry distributors. The tape continues as Guard-Tex while the Gauztex brand is being discontinued.
Check roll length and pack quantity when replacing an older order. A former 10-yard Gauztex roll and a current 30-yard Guard-Tex roll are different package formats.

Questions, answered.
Can Guard-Tex hold gauze in place?
Yes. Guard-Tex is used as an outer wrap to secure a separate gauze dressing. Its overlapping layers stick to each other. Follow package directions and your clinician’s dressing instructions.
Is Guard-Tex the wound dressing?
In this application, the gauze is the separate dressing covering the wound. Guard-Tex holds that dressing in place; it does not replace the dressing.
Does Guard-Tex stretch?
No. Guard-Tex is non-stretch cotton tape. Dressing retention and compression are different tasks; do not substitute it for prescribed compression bandaging.
Does Guard-Tex contain latex?
Yes. Guard-Tex contains natural rubber latex. It is not a latex-free alternative.
Is it suitable for someone with fragile skin?
Guard-Tex sticks to itself rather than using adhesion to skin to secure the wrap. A clinician should select the dressing and retention method for fragile or injured skin, taking fit and latex sensitivity into account.
What happened to Gauztex?
The Gauztex brand is being discontinued and the tape continues under Guard-Tex. Older roll lengths, pack formats and distributor item numbers can differ from current products.
