The Foreman's Hands

As foreman, Linda doesn't swing a hammer as much as she used to. But when she does, her crew notices everything — including whether she's protecting her hands.

"You can't tell guys to wear PPE while you're working bare-handed. Leadership means doing what you want them to do."

Setting the Standard

Linda keeps hand protection visible and available. Tape on the job box. Gloves sized for everyone. No hassle for anyone who needs supplies.

"Make it easy and nobody complains. Make it hard and guys skip it. I want the path of least resistance to be the safe path."

The Long View

Linda has watched workers age out of the trade with broken-down bodies. Hands are often the first thing to go — chronic pain, limited grip, skin that won't heal.

"I want my guys to have options when they're fifty. That means protecting them now, even when they don't think they need it. That's what leadership looks like."
